Whale Watching Tour Tromsø is an independent visitor guide to whale watching from Tromsø, in northern Norway. It compares the whale tours sold from the city: the catamarans and other boats from the harbour, the RIB and covered boats from Skjervøy, what each costs, how long you spend with the whales, which ages each takes and what happens if you see none. We do not run boats or tours, and we do not take bookings.
Where the facts come from
- Tours, prices, departures and ages: the GetYourGuide listings, read in US dollars and dated on every page with the month we read them.
- Season, the herring, polar night and the operators’ guidelines: Visit Tromsø, the region’s tourist board.
- Rules on the water: Norway’s regulation on whale safari, Forskrift om utøvelse av hvalsafari (FOR-2019-12-05-1651), as published on Lovdata.
- Guests’ experiences: the newest reviews on GetYourGuide, summarised with the date we read them.
We have not sailed on every boat named here, and we say so where it matters. When a listing and an operator’s own claims differ, we give the listing’s figure for what you book and name whose claim the other one is.
